Many of the art in these days are not for art sake. It is a good feeling when you create art for art sake. It needs to have a aesthetic feeling. Many artist work for comercial value. In the past art was commisioned by big people and they were given high respect. Even today in many parts of the world this tradition is followed. Many art schools and degrees have been started to promote art and many young people are taking interest in this field. With the advance technologies like internet, iphone mobiles and other electronic devices, web is very easy to browse and information is at finger tips.

Even today in Europe their are art schools where tradition oil painting is taught in the same style as it was taught in the olden days. The students have created art works extemely well, that you will feel you are in the golden age of art. At the same time many artist have created extremely well composed morden art.

Art should be for art sake. More than the commercial value, the felling of creating an art work is somthing a moment to enjoy.

And today one of the youngest player in the art market computer art or digital art.

History:
Digital art is very mature these days and in the near future you will see more extreme sophisticated softwares and many master pieces. But in the earlier period of computer evolution, bitmap and pixel art    were in common. With the advent of new technologies, bitmap got to a extreme level and many programmers implemented vector in to art. Thus, vector drawing was an innovative and extremely useful when compared to bitmap drawings. During the same period 3D graphics were also into main stream production. Many developers were playing in the market.
The innovation in 2D or in 3D will be going on since there is a steady demand for such products.

Digital art includes both 2D and 3D. And many artists are exploring this medium. One of the myth in the industry is that if you have the best software and hardware specifically designed for digital art , then you can produce excellent digital art. This is a wrong conception many people have and this is one of reason why many digital art have no quality.

Any art form should have all the quality of aesthetics and at the same time should captivate the viewer. It should be well composed and the principles of design and elements of design should be implemented. But in some rare cases I have seen a few quality digital painting where these factors are less but still it has an excellent quality and the painting get excellent feedbacks.

Technologies do help a lot in creating an excellent paintings. Great software like Adobe Photo shop, Corel Painter, Autodesk 3D Max, Autodesk Maya, Blender, pixologic zbrush are a few software to name. At the same time in the hardware section you will see ATI or Nvidia series of products which are coming with high quality rendering engine and the kind of output these products give are fantastic.

There is a beautiful product called wacom tablet. This is so fantastic that you will feel that you are painting with brush. The tablet pen is so touch sensitive that the pressure you apply is understood by the graphic software.
